A marriage record for Amos and Charlotte has not been found, nor has an 1870 census record. Mary Crane died 5 Oct 1870 in L'Anse. Her death record states she is aged 1 year 3 months, daughter of Amos.
Next record found for Amos is the 1880 Federal Census - L'Anse, Baraga, Michigan. Amos is 45, his wife is called Sarah, 35, children are Julia, age 5, Isaac, age 3, and Annie, age 1.
Amos applied for an invalid pension on 21 Jun 1886. The pension card also mentions applications for both his widow and a minor.
The 1890 Veterans Census of Baraga county states Amos Crane was a private in Co. K, 1 Mich volunteer, served 10 Aug 1864 to 10 Aug 1865, address Methodist Mission, disabilities none, remarks Sharp Shooter 9th Corps.
A daughter, Lucy is born 23 Jul 1890 in L'Anse, Baraga, Michigan.
He is buried at Pinery Indian Cemetery in Baraga county.
The L'Anse Sentinel of shows Mrs. Amos Crane receiving $12 in April 1892 from the county.
On 19 Nov 1892 Charlotte Crane, 35, married Jos. Halfaday, 37, in Baraga county.
The L'Anse Sentinel of 14 Nov 1896 tells Julia returned home to live with Charlotte after the death of Julia's husband at Bay Mills.
Anna Crane died 25 Nov 1896, L'Anse, Baraga, Michigan. Her age is given as 19.
1900 census for L'Anse shows Joseph Halfday, 50, wife Charlotte, 43, 10 children born, 3 children living, stepdaugher Julia Shaw, 23, widowed, 4 children born, 3 children living, stepdaughter Lucy Crane, 11; (step)grandchildren: Mollie Shaw, 6, Louis Shaw, 3 and Charles Shaw, 1.
Note that the younger Shaw children are born after the 1896 death of Julia's husband.
Lucy died 13 Dec 1906 in L'Anse, Baraga, Michigan, at age 17 years 5 months.
Durant Field Notes page 1 #1 show Charlotte to be the granddaughter of Maw-dosh. She is 56, resides at L'Anse, married first to Amos Crane (daughter Julia Shaw, 33). Charlotte married second to Joe Halfaday, 60, no children born to this marriage.
1910 Federal census of L'Anse, Baraga, Michigan has Joseph Halfday, 74, married twice, married for 18 years; wife Charlotte, 60, married twice, married for 18 years, 10 children born, 1 child living; stepdaughter, Mrs. Julia Shaw, 35, widow, 5 children born, 2 children living; grandsons Louis Shaw, 13, Charles Shaw, 11.
Baraga county marriage records show a license for Eli Curtis and Julia Crane Shaw dated 20 May 1916. Only the year 1917 is written in the area for the record of marriage.
The 1920 Federal Census of L'Anse, Baraga, Michigan has Eli Curtis, head, 34; his wife Julia, 40; and son Charles, 20. The next family is Charlotte Halfaday, head, 70 and Joseph, husband, 80.
In Sault Ste Marie, Chippewa, Michigan, on 20 Aug 1924, Julia married Albert Marshall.
On 8 Apr 1926 in L'Anse, Baraga, Michigan Charles A. Shaw, 27, b. Zeba, Michigan, listed parents as Albert Marshell and Julia Crane, married Julia Stoddard, 27, b. Odonah, Wisconsin, daughter of John.
Amos' daughter, Julia Crane Shaw Curtis Marshall, died 17 Jan 1928 in L'Anse, Baraga, Michigan at age 65. She was the last of Amos' children and the only one to have descendants.
The 1930 Federal census finds Joseph Halfaday, age 70, married 25 years living in L'Anse, Baraga, Michigan with wife Charlotte, 70 and grandson George Curtis, 16.

Also dying in 1930 is the wife of grandson Charles Shaw. Julia Stoddard Shaw died on 4 Dec 1930 in L'Anse.
Amos' grandson Charles A. Shaw was admitted to the U.S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 6 Sep 1932, discharged 4 Nov 1932. The record shows he served as a private in the U.S. Army 5 Jun 1917 to 15 Jul 1919. He was born 27 Aug 1898, 70 1/2 inches tall, black hair, brown eyes, laborer, widower, residence Munising, nearest relative was half-brother Geo. Curtis, in care of the Indian School, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
Charles Shaw died 3 May 1963 and is buried in L'Anse Township Cemetery. It is currently unknown if he had any descendants.
Amos' grandson George Curtis was born 19 Mar 1915, died 30 Jan 1977. He left several children and grandchildren and is buried at Pinery cemetery with other family members.
