Do also agree to accept such bounty, pay, rat ions, and clothing as are, or may be, established by law for volunteers . And I, Antwine Scott, do solemnly swear that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the United States of America and that I will serve them honestly and faithfully against all their enemies or opposers whomsoever, and that I will observe and obey the orders of the President of the Unit ed States, and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according t o the Rules and Articles of War.

I certify on honor that I have minutely inspected the volunteer, previously to his enlistment, and that he was entirely sober when enlisted, t hat, to the best of my judgement and belief, he is of lawful age, and t hat, in accepting him as duly qualified to perform the duties of a soldier, I have strictly observed the Regulations which govern the Recruiting Service. This soldier has black eyes, black hair, dark complexion, i s 5 feet 8 inches high. and a civilized Indian.

The following Notation from the Adjutant General's office War Department February 9, 1887, states Antoine was "recommended for a Medal of Honor February 21, 1865 by General John G. Parke, commanding 9th Army Corps, pursuant to paragraph 7, special orders 346, Headquarters Army of the Potomac, dated December 22, 1864, for conspicuous gallantry, to Wit: Before Petersburg, July 30, 1864, instead of screening himself behind the captured works, this soldier stood boldly up and deliberately fired his piece until the enemy was close upon him, when, instead of surrendering, he ran the gauntlet of shot and shell and escaped." A.C.R. copyist.
Antoine died in Custer, Mason county on 10 Dec 1878. While his death certificate states he was married at the time, his mother's application for pension based on Antoine's service says he left no wife or children.
A certified note regarding his muster dates was dated November 22, 1879.

On 14 Jan 1889 a letter was sent requesting a pension application form.
Mother's application 18 May 1889. Name Petabun, or Elizabeth Wi-yaw-be-mind, widow of Joseph, her third husband, who died in 1883. Elizabeth is about 83 years old. Her son Antoine was by her second husband, Mitchell LeCroix.
Deposition of half-sister Margaret Niobe/Margaret Ani-ne-waw-be, aged 64 or 65, dated 18 May 1889.
The following papers, dated 18 Feb 1890 give the three husbands of Petabun - 1. Niobi, father of Margaret; 2. Mitchell LeCroix, father of Antoine Scott; 3. Joseph Weyawbemind.
Nothing more has been found about Antoine, his father, mother or half-sister at this time.
