Joseph Ach-au-nach of LaCroix enlisted in company K, First Sharpshooters, 14 Jul 1863 at Traverse for 3 years, age 18. Mustered 20 Jul 1863. Discharged at Detroit, 11 Aug 1865.

List of Pensioners on the Roll Junaury 1, 1883 volume 4 page 279 lists Joseph Ashkonois. He is living in Cross Village and had a gun shot wound in his left arm.
The 1890 Federal Census - Veterans Schedule also states Joseph was wounded in the arm.
